The grubber kick is a type of kick used in rugby league to gain territory or create a try-scoring opportunity. It involves kicking the ball low and rolling along the ground, making it difficult for the opposing team to catch. This drill aims to teach players how to execute a effective grubber kick.
How to Perform
1Stand with your feet shoulder-width apart, with the ball placed on the ground in front of you.
2Position your kicking foot next to the ball, with your ankle locked and your toes pointed down.
3Lean forward slightly and keep your eyes on the ball.
4Use the instep of your foot to strike the ball, aiming for the middle of the ball.
5Follow through with your kicking leg, keeping it low and close to the ground.
