This drill focuses on kicking a spiral bomb in rugby union, as demonstrated by George Ford. The spiral bomb is a high-arc kick used to gain territorial advantage by pinning the opposition back in their own 20-meter zone.
How to Perform
1Position yourself with your non-kicking foot forward and your kicking foot back.
2Align your body with the target, keeping your eyes on the ball.
3Place the ball on the ground with the laces facing upwards and the nose of the ball slightly tilted towards you.
4Take a few steps back and approach the ball at an angle.
5Strike the ball with the instep of your kicking foot, using a smooth, flowing motion.
6Follow through with your kicking leg, keeping it extended and your ankle locked.
